Care for Red Maple Bonsai

Light: Red Maples prefer full sunlight but require some shading during the hot summer months to prevent leaf scorch.

Watering: They thrive in moist environments. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Increase watering frequency during hot summer days to maintain soil moisture.

Fertilizing: Apply a diluted liquid fertilizer once a month during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce fertilization in the fall and stop entirely in the winter.

Pruning: Pruning helps control the height and shape of the tree, encouraging branching and leaf growth. Ensure to maintain balance and aesthetic appeal when pruning.

Repotting: Repot every 2-3 years, trimming the roots as needed and replacing the soil with fresh bonsai soil.

Regarding the red maple leaves, if you receive the plant during its red leaf phase, the leaves will turn green in about two weeks. If you receive it with green leaves, you can prune the leaves, provide sufficient sunlight, and water regularly. New red leaves will gradually grow within 3-4 weeks.
