Description
Product Information
The Ginseng Ficus is the perfect introduction to the ancient art of Bonsai. Characterized by its thick, bulbous aerial roots that resemble ginger (or ginseng) roots, this plant creates an instant architectural statement. It features a sturdy trunk topped with glossy, dark green oval leaves that stay lush year-round. Beyond its striking "mini-tree" aesthetic, the Ginseng Ficus is a hardy air-purifier, known for its ability to filter indoor toxins while bringing a sense of calm and Zen to offices, bookshelves, or patios.
How to Care
-
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some direct morning sun, but harsh afternoon rays may scorch the leaves. If kept indoors, a south or west-facing window is ideal.
-
Watering: Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Avoid letting it sit in standing water, as this can cause root rot. In winter, reduce watering frequency.
-
Humidity: Thrives in high humidity. Mist the leaves regularly or place the pot on a pebble tray with water to mimic its native tropical environment.
-
Pruning: To maintain its "bonsai" shape, prune back 2–3 leaves for every 6–8 new leaves that grow. This encourages a bushier canopy.
-
Level of Care: Easy. It is incredibly resilient to "new parent" mistakes and is one of the most forgiving bonsai species available.
